First stop: Penang!

Sorry guys, as I'm originally from Penang, I dedicate my first post in this blog to a Chinese restaurant in Penang : Midlands Court, in Midlands Shopping Mall, Pulau Tikus. This time round, i went and experienced a full course Chinese meal. The location of the restaurant is on the 4th floor in Midlands. It's a typical chinese restaurant, but was quite famous for some time. My turn to try out the food there.

As Chinese meals usually starts, we were served with...steamed groundnuts =X

No idea why, but these are just yummy to begin with!

Next round: The cold dish!

This was actually just so-so for me. It was pretty stale in taste and the sauce that was given does not match the taste. The pork slices are actually kinda...hard and the dish must have been prepared in a hurry.

Neeeext! Shark's fin soup

The shark's fin soup is almost always a must for Chinese set meals. The shark's fin soup here is actually not too shabby, but the contents on the soup was a bit...too much. Couldn't recognise most of the ingredients there and makes the soup very filling. Overally not bad.

And the moment we've been waiting for: Roasted Pork with buns

A look of it already made my day over here worth it. The crispy skin is nicely done with satisfying taste of it is just nice. The buns just add to the flavor. It looks like a lot to eat, but unfortunately only the skin is edible and you only get a few pieces per person. Oily but Yummy!

As tradition dictates, there's always a dish of so called "abalone" with mushrooms and vegetable.

This is just alright, a very predictable dish although if it was a bit warmer, it'll taste better. Average, for me
Fishy fishy
.
This, as always, must be steamed at the right temperature for the correct duration of time. The fish that was served was a bit...overcooked. It doesn't taste as fresh as it was supposed to be though. I guess the chef must hv been rushing with the many orders.
The last meal of the day: fried rice
One comment: Disappointingly bland taste. A bit overcooked too.
Last but not least, Longan dessert
I was waiting for dessert to be served and was disappointed to find out that it was a hot desert.Maybe its me, just to expect a cold dessert after the meal, but oh well, it was alright but a bit too sweet.
Overall the restaurant is just average. Nothing too special. The only thing that was actually good was....the peanuts( not joking =P) and the roast pork.Worth a visit but nothing too special.
Overall rating 5.5/10
